If R1 = 2.0 Ohms and R2 = 6.0 Ohms, what is the total resistance of the circuit?

A. 1.5 Ohms

B. 4.0 Ohms

C. 8.0 Ohms

D. 12 Ohms

The correct answer is (A). The resistors are in parallel so:

R(eq) = R1R2 / (R1 + R2) = 12 Ohms / 8 Ohms = 1.5 Ohms
