B.  Primary spermatocytes
C.  Secondary spermatocytes
D.  Spermatids

The correct answer is (B). Spermatogonia (choice A) are normal diploid cells (2n = 46). In the primary spermatocyte, however, each chromosome has replicated to form two chromatids (92 chromatids are present). The secondary spermatocytes (choice C) are the products of the first meiotic division and contain 23 doubled chromosomes (46 chromatids). Spermatids (choice D) are haploid and have 23 chromosomes.
