Practice MCAT Question - Q35 - Answer!

If the length of a conducting wire is doubled, the resistance of the wire will be

A.  quartered.
B.  halved.
C.  doubled.
D.  quadrupled.

The correct answer is (C). Resistance is directly proportional to length and inversely proportional to the cross-sectional area of the conductor. If the area remains constant, then doubling the length will double the resistance.
